not much to tell about the weeks on the Islands. Linni and myself were wasting time in best possible way, swimming, water and amusement park, playing, reading, smaller sailing trips but always coming back to our base Puerto Rico. The artificial well protected beach was the best place for Linni to play and swim. She did that every day followed by some ours at the pool at a Hotel near Summerwinds moorings. The little one just loves water. On the other photo you see us on a dingy ride at Puerto Morgan with some guests from Helsinki.
Linni in total control on the phone, gambling or when hijacking me and always something to explore
all the time we had guests or met people. I enjoyed especially the discussion with so many sailors being on the way to cross the Atlantic
this two gentleman met last time 2 years ago in Jakarta Indonesia where Wolf and I were running a project. This makes me think how small world we have nowadays - yesterday Jakarta, today Puerto Rico and tomorrow maybe Helsinki.
Here you see me with a neighbor ship crew from the forbidden town. They were on the Canary Islands for heavy weather training and also thought me some new drinks ... really nasty stuff. There is a reason why it's called the forbidden town others than the green white rambling-football-after-school-care club. I still have my diving gear on after a 2 hours hassle to free my propeller from fisher net and mooring line. What I didn't know at this time is that my propeller was broken, hair line damage at the rubber loom which should give me trouble 2 years later.
End January I was suppose to start working in Sweden so I had to decide where to leave Summerwind. I didn't trust the marina in Puerto Rico to be a safe place for the boat so I decided to move back to marina Rubincon in Lanzarote. Not only because it's a new secure and safe place but also I met Henning from Waterline Yacht Service and he promised to have an eye on Summerwind now and then and to do some fixing. I went single handed against waves, wind and current trough the acceleration zone between Gran Canaria and Fuertoventura and arrived in Rubincon 30 hours later total worn out and tied. But also happy to find myself being capable handling Summerwind alone in heavier conditions. I left Summerwind with Henning and was not disappointed, I can highly recommend Waterline Yacht Serves and Henning to be a competent and reliable partner.
